Details:   Shot by the IRA as he stopped his public transport bus. Gunmen boarded the vehicle, full of school children on their way home from school, and opened fire. James tried to drive on and the bus crashed into a ditch when he died. The hysterical children were taken in by local people. James only drove the bus one week in every 29. Several years earlier James was injured when his UDR Landrover was caught in an explosion near Ardboe. Left the Regiment in 1980 - 36th ex UDR member to be killed. |
