Details: One of nine policemen killed in an IRA mortar attack on Newry Police Station. One of the mortar shells containing an estimated 40 lb of explosives struck a mobile canteen where they were eating an evening meal. Geoffrey had only joined the RUC the previous month. (RUCR when killed). Left the Regiment in 1984 - 42nd ex UDR soldier to be killed. |
