Details:   Shot by IRA gunmen who forced their way into his home as he watched television. He was taken outside and was found by his wife minutes later, he had been shot four times in the head from close range by a small calibre weapon of high velocity. The IRA said he was killed because the firm owned by his brother carried out work for the Security Forces and in a statement they stated, 'such people are more of a prime target than the foot soldier or the RUC constable because of the crucial function they perform'. The weapon had been used at least five times against UDR soldiers and policemen. A few months after Harry was killed the weapon was captured at Loughgall. Left the Regiment in 1973 - 45th ex UDR soldier to be killed. |
