Details: Shot dead by the IRA at his work at a Golf Club. Three gunmen fired 12 shots at close range after singling Joe out as he sat with other course workers at a tea break. Six months earlier Joe had been worried after seeing men acting suspiciously and had wanted to take his shotgun to work, but his father persuaded him not to. 164th UDR soldier to be killed. |
