Details:   One of three RUC officers and a nun killed by an IRA landmine which exploded on the Killylea Road. The policemen were in an unmarked police car and the nun was in a car going in the opposite direction. Another woman was injured. The bomb left a crater thirty feet wide and twenty feet deep. The bomb was detonated by a command wire from a house where a family had been held captive for more than twenty four hours. (RUCR when killed). Left the Regiment in 1981- 50th ex UDR soldier to be killed. |
