Details:   Shot dead by the IRA as he arrived at a Primary School to take children to swimming classes. A gunman fired seven shots from a range of two yards, then two gunmen entered the bus and fired a further 24 shots. Jimmy was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1980 after a previous attack on his life. Two of his brothers, both Part Time soldiers, were killed by the IRA; Cecil 11 Nov 1981 and Ronald 05 Jun 1981. His sister who was seriously injured when a car crashed through a vehicle checkpoint also died. 148th UDR soldier to be killed. |
