Details: Shot in an IRA ambush whilst part of a two vehicle patrol on the Armagh to Middletown Rd. She was the second female soldier of the UDR to be killed. The soldier driving the landrover received gunshot wounds to his leg. Jean had previous service with the Women's Royal Army Corps. Her husband was a Staff Sergeant in the Irish Guards and posted to the Battalion. 58th UDR soldier to be killed and the 2nd female soldier. |
