Details:   Shot outside his home in Mountfield, just outside Omagh. He had recently retired from the Army. Maj Farrell had served with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He had served in the ranks for eight years after joining the Regiment as a boy and received a commission at the beginning of the Second World War. During the Korean War he served as Brigade-Major of the Commonwealth Brigade in Korea and was mentioned in despatches. He had been awarded an MBE. |
