Details: Shot by the IRA as he wheeled a child's bicycle to his mother in law's house, a few doors away from his own home. A car drew alongside and a gunman fired hitting Mervyn four times. A second gunman stepped from the car and fired three more rounds into his head, one from a range of 18 inches or less. His wife heard the shots and came out of the house to find him dead. 4th R IRISH soldier to be killed. |
